Best of Raleigh | Martha Schneider of La Maison & Trellis

Raleigh’s design scene has a standout talent in Martha Schneider, the visionary owner of La Maison & Trellis, two beautifully curated home and floral boutiques in North Hills. Known for her meticulous eye for detail and signature European flair, Martha has transformed her passion for interior design into a thriving business that brings warmth, elegance, and inspiration to countless homes. With the grand opening of her new 4,000-square-foot showroom, she continues to set the standard for home design and floral artistry in Raleigh.

The Journey from Passion to Business

Martha’s love for design started long before she opened her first store. After moving to Raleigh 21 years ago, she began working with local builders on spec homes—helping to bring beauty and function to new builds. But she quickly realized something was missing: a local home furnishings boutique that offered the kind of pieces she envisioned for her projects.

Then, one day, Martha came home and told her husband, “I’m doing it.” And just like that, La Maison was born. With a fierce determination and a lifelong love of retail—dating back to her first job in fashion—Martha opened the doors to her first store in North Hills in 2014, providing a carefully curated collection of furniture, lighting, and accessories for design lovers and DIY decorators alike.

Expanding the Vision: The Birth of Trellis

As La Maison flourished, Martha saw another gap in Raleigh’s market—a Parisian-style floral boutique where people could walk in, hand-select fresh stems, and create their own arrangements. In 2020, she launched Trellis, offering hand-trimmed topiaries, curated floral arrangements, and a unique shopping experience that blends nature with design.

But she knew there was still more to do. In 2023, she brought both businesses together under one roof, creating a seamless blend of interior design, home décor, and floral artistry. The new space, complete with a stunning solarium-style atrium, invites visitors into a world where design meets nature in the most elegant way.

A Space That Feels Like Home

Walking into La Maison & Trellis is an experience. Every corner tells a story, with beautifully styled living spaces, elegant tablescapes, and hand-picked gifts that make every visit a delight. Martha’s goal is to create an environment where customers feel inspired—and judging by her loyal client base, she has certainly succeeded.

Many of Raleigh’s most stylish homes feature Martha’s touch, whether through her interior design services or her floral subscription program, which delivers fresh blooms to brighten up any space. And for those in search of a thoughtful gift, La Maison is the go-to destination for one-of-a-kind finds.

The Future of La Maison & Trellis

So, what’s next for Martha? She’s focused on growing and refining the business, ensuring that La Maison & Trellis remain a premier design destination for both locals and visitors. With clients coming from Wilmington, Chapel Hill, and beyond, her goal is to continue providing an unforgettable shopping and design experience—one that keeps people coming back time and time again.

As Raleigh evolves into a bustling metropolitan hub, Martha remains committed to keeping her boutique a cornerstone of style, elegance, and Southern hospitality.
