Forty-four four-story condominiums in the heart of downtown Cary, each with a sky-room and balcony on the fourth floor.
Walk out the door at Walker Row and Downtown Cary Park is right there. The Cary Theater, the Arts Center, the Amtrak platform and a run of restaurants and coffee shops all sit within a few blocks. This is the part of Cary people drive into on a Saturday, and these forty-four homes are in the middle of it.
Walker Row is developed and built by Envision Homes, the team behind Park Station a block away. Homes run 1,656 to 1,877 square feet across four floors, with two bedrooms, three full baths, and either one or two-car garage parking. Every one of them ends the same way: a fourth-floor sky-room opening onto a covered sky-deck.
Every home at Walker Row has a fourth floor that is not a bedroom.
The sky-room sits at the top of the house with a covered, tiled sky-deck off it, its own heating and cooling, and a ceiling-fan rough-in already run. What it becomes is the owner's call: an office with a view down the street, a den, a guest room, a bar for the evening. It is the room that makes a seventeen-hundred square foot condominium live like something larger, because the top floor belongs to whatever you are doing that season rather than to a fixed use.
Oversized windows and glass carry through the whole home, and ceilings are nine feet on every floor.
Four plans, two bedrooms in every one, and a choice that comes down mostly to parking and square footage.
The Soho and the Camden are the one-car plans, and each comes with an assigned exterior space. The Soho runs 1,753 to 1,770 square feet and the Camden 1,865 to 1,877, both with three full baths and two powder rooms spread across the four floors.
The Chelsea and the Mayfair are the two-car plans, with no exterior space. The Chelsea runs 1,656 to 1,690 square feet and the Mayfair 1,682 to 1,714, each with three full baths and one powder room.
The floors stack the same way in every plan. The first holds the garage, a study and the covered front porch. The second is the main living level: kitchen, breakfast area, great room and pantry. The bedrooms sit on the third. The sky-room takes the fourth.
Every plan comes in end-unit and interior-unit configurations, and the square footage shifts a little between the two.
Southern Studio Interior Design, an award-winning firm a few blocks away in downtown Cary, built four designer packages together with Envision.
Kitchens run full-overlay cabinetry to the ceiling with soft-close doors and drawers, quartz counters with a tile backsplash, undercabinet lighting, an undermount Kohler sink, and a KitchenAid package: a 30-inch gas range and oven, a counter-depth stainless refrigerator, dishwasher and hood, with a microwave drawer. Islands are sized for cooking and for the people who end up standing around them.
Owner's baths carry quartz counters with undermount sinks, frameless shower glass, and both an overhead and a hand-held shower. Moen fixtures throughout. Floors are five-inch pre-finished hardwood with exposed red oak treads on the stairs, and tile in every full bath and wet area.
The systems are current: CAT6 wiring to a 30-inch smart panel, a 240-volt car charger standard in the garage with a keypad on the door, Mitsubishi heating and cooling on all four floors, a Rinnai tankless water heater, and Moen Flo leak detection. Walls carry a sound transmission rating above 50, and the building runs a 13R fire suppression system.
Downtown Cary Park opened next door and shifted the center of gravity of the whole district. From Walker Row it is a walk, not a drive.
The park, the library and the parking deck are the block next door. The Cary Theater, the Cary Arts Center, the Mayton Inn, the post office, Cary Elementary School and the Amtrak station are all inside a few blocks.
So is most of where you would eat. Crosstown Pub and Grill, Scratch Kitchen, Serendipity Gourmet Deli, Academy St Bistro, Di Fara Pizza, Taipei 10, SAAP, Dom's Bagels and Pro's Market Deli sit along Chatham and Academy, with Bond Bros Beer, Esteamed Coffee, Brew Coffee and the Chatham St Wine Market among them. Envision's own Park Station is a block up.
Harrison Avenue and Kildaire Farm Road put the rest of the Triangle within a straightforward drive.
School assignments are set by the Wake County Public School System and should be confirmed directly.
Forty-four homes in six buildings, released in six phases, along South Walker Street, Chatham View Road, Niantic Street and Byrum Street, with Katama Alley running through the middle of the site. Phases I, II and III are built and sold out but for a single home. Phase IV is under way. Phases V and VI have not released pricing.
The streets, drives, parking areas and sidewalks inside Walker Row are private. The developer deeded them to the homeowners association, which owns and maintains them along with every other common area, so they are not maintained by the Town of Cary. There is a mail kiosk on site.
Homeowners association dues are $267 a month, with a $750 capital contribution at closing.
Walker Row is developed and built by Envision Homes, who built Park Station a block away in the same downtown. Interiors are by Southern Studio Interior Design, also of downtown Cary.

Walker Row is selling now. One home is available in Phase II, Phase IV is releasing, and pricing for Phases V and VI has not been set.
