Raleigh’s Premium Interior Designer: Cameron Flythe & Design Works Studio

Designing Life Beautifully: Inside the Creative World of Cameron Flythe

Do you ever walk into a home and instantly feel at peace—like every detail was carefully curated to make you never want to leave? That kind of intentional beauty doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the work of visionaries like Cameron Flythe, a seasoned interior designer with a flair for making houses feel like home. From transforming her childhood Barbie Dreamhouse to leading remarkable projects at Design Works Studio, Cameron’s design journey is as inspiring as the spaces she creates.

In this episode of The Best of Raleigh, we dive into her story, her process, and the magic behind those picture-perfect interiors you see around town.

A Life Built on Design

Cameron’s love affair with design began early. Growing up in a historic home in Belmont, NC, she was surrounded by ornate wallpaper, classic window treatments, and heirloom rugs. Her mom—an art teacher—nurtured her creative side with scraps of decorative paper, which Cameron used to outfit her Barbie Dreamhouse in high style.

Fast forward to today, and Cameron is still doing what she loves. After earning her degree in interior design from East Carolina University, she made Raleigh her home, where she’s now raising three kids while designing full-time. Her journey from helping at the Karen Saks showroom to working alongside industry icon Donna Davis at Design Works has been one of growth, learning, and lots of beautiful homes.

What Sets Design Works Apart

Since 2011, Cameron has helped Design Works Studio become one of Raleigh’s premier design firms. From full-scale new construction projects to intimate room refreshes, Cameron helps clients see their visions through from blueprint to final accessory. She specializes in collaborating with builders and homeowners on selections that not only look good but work seamlessly together.

Her approach? Collaboration over control. Cameron takes the time to understand how her clients live, what they love, and how their homes can reflect their personalities. Whether it’s the soft warmth of transitional wood tones, bold jewel-tone walls, or the delicate art of mixing metals, her design always feels intentional and inspired.

More Than Just a Pretty Space: Community and Connection

Cameron isn’t just designing houses—she’s building relationships. Her work with DJF Builders, including stunning spec homes in areas like Country Club Hills and Coley Forest, shows her deep connection to Raleigh’s evolving neighborhoods. And her friendship with clients, like local favorite Lindsay Gamal, proves that Cameron’s work goes beyond finishes and fixtures. She brings heart, humor, and a calming presence to every project.

In a field where stress and decision fatigue are real, Cameron is a breath of fresh air. She’s known for her poise under pressure, creative vision, and willingness to push boundaries to achieve just the right feel. For Cameron, it’s all about making the design process fun, functional, and fulfilling—for her clients and herself.

Looking Ahead: Big Dreams, Beautiful Spaces

Design Works Studio continues to grow, with more designers, more projects, and more opportunities to make Raleigh homes truly shine. Upcoming collaborations with DJF Builders, including a show-stopping property on Transylvania Avenue, showcase what’s next: timeless, transitional design with modern flair.

From new builds to furniture makeovers and even bookcase styling, Cameron and the Design Works team are ready to help clients at any stage of homeownership.
