Lake Myra Christmas Lights
Located in Wendell, Lake Myra is famous in the Triangle. It features nearly a quarter of a million lights synchronized to music, creating a dazzling display you can enjoy from the comfort of a lawn chair or while walking along the designated pathways. Tune your radio to the broadcast station and you’ll find yourself singing along. Note: This is not a drive-thru, you’ll park and watch the approximately 25-minute show, with a 5-minute intermission between shows. Check their Facebook page before visiting in case of weather-related closures.
This family-run light display has been delighting visitors for over 30 years and has since become a Triangle favorite. Piper Lights features a free drive-thru experience spanning 7 acres of twinkling lights. Donations are appreciated to help cover electricity and maintenance costs. Check their Facebook page for weather updates, as they may close after rain or snow.
Hill Ridge Farms Festival of Lights
Located in Youngsville, Hill Ridge Farms offers a family-friendly experience with covered wagon rides through over a million Christmas lights, a train ride, carousel, farm-themed displays, and a charming country store atmosphere. The playland park is also open during your visit.

Meadow Lights in Benson
The largest and oldest Christmas light show in eastern North Carolina, Meadow Lights is a must-see. Their display spans over 30 acres, and while all lights are visible from the road or parking lot for free, you can also take a train ride through 10+ acres of displays for an up-close experience. Don’t miss “The Old Country Store,” one of the largest candy stores in the state, featuring over 300 varieties of old-fashioned candy. They also offer carousel rides, visits with Santa, and concessions.
Chinese Lantern Festival at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre
Technically not Christmas lights, but absolutely magical. Giant, handcrafted lanterns and light sculptures create a stunning cultural holiday experience that’s unique to Cary. Now celebrating its 10th year, this eight-week festival features over 40 all-new displays each season, nightly cultural performances including martial arts, traditional dance, and acrobatics, plus food vendors. The 2024-2025 season drew over 249,000 visitors and generated more than $10 million in economic impact for Wake County. Tickets are required in advance.
